I know this community is practically dead. Which is a bummer, but incase anyone checks here's a head up:

Tonight starting at 6pm on AMC there is a Night of the Living Dead marathon hosted by George Romero himself!

I liked "Diary of the Dead" [21 Jun 2008|11:59pm]

When I watched Diary of the Dead, I couldn't help but enjoy it -- it was gory and raw like Dawn of the Dead (1978), not all cheap money-shots like Land of the Dead. I think most of it was a bit too optimistic (people usually fall apart much more quickly in a crisis), and everyone was too "pretty" -- but, those aside, I think it was a good imagining of what would happen. I mean, I have a Liberal Arts degree ... the students reminded me of people I went through school with. I can imagine us making so many of the same mistakes, but trying to capture what was going on. When we've had our "what-if" conversations, we've spoken of taking cameras and laptops -- to gain and give information.

Do any of you agree?

Hello everyone : ) [31 Aug 2007|12:15am]

My first post here will be a little bit of a "shameless plug" for my best friend. She is a very beautiful and talented writer and actress who not only LOVES horror flicks, but is also extremely knowledgeable about them as well. In fact, she was recently chosen to fly to LA to audition for FOX's The Search for the Next Elvira. This summer, she began writing and filming her very own horror movie review show, Cryptique, which she broadcasts on YouTube.

So if you're a fan of campy horror, caustic wit, and things that go bump in the night, please watch her show, subscribe to her YouTube videos, and add her on MySpace. Thanks!

George Romero at Festival of Fear [27 Aug 2007|09:25am]

Did anyone else in or around the Toronto area attend the Festival of Fear yesterday?
George Romero was there signing autographs and I got to meet him in person! He signed my zombie book!

Needless to say, I'm quite a fantastically happy person today. :)
